I'm reposting this so that I can delete the spam comments that were dropped into my blogger account.

Mary Kinzie, Author of A Poet's Guide to Poetry, put into that book a series of exercises.

this is the first:

Write a 300 word prose draft followed by a poem that should have four quatrains of long meter (iambic tetrameter rhyming either abab or abxb)

theme someone or something seen through a window (can be looking in our out)

Method: use the prose to build the plot and take the best phrases to build the poem

restrictions: max of one adjective per quatrain using only litteral symbols

I'll publish the prose next, followed by the poem. I plan to do these excercises on a weekly basis.
